Yellowknife Family Practice Physicians Pay Summary

                                    Rates as of April 1, 2011

Scope of Practice                                              Base Salary

FP1       Clinic only                                                                $187,964 - $209,516

FP2       Specific range of coverage                                   $202,034 - $224,482

FP3       Limited range of coverage                                    $217,000 - $239,447

FP4       Full range of coverage                                           $231,965 - $254,413

FP5       Full range of coverage (with certification)           $246,929 - $269,378

FP6       Family Practice with Surgery or Anesthesia      $276,860 - $299,309

Based on 40 hour week plus 1 call shift averaged over 13 weeks

*Physicians pay NO overhead and enjoy full administrative and allied support.

The following benefits are in addition to the base salary:

Recruitment Bonus:           1 year - $7,000, 2 years - $16,000, 3 years - $28,000

Retention Bonus:               $11,863 after each completed year of service

Northern Allowance:          $3,000 per year

Retirement Benefits:         Physician contributes 7.5% out of base salary

                                                YHSSA adds an additional 15% of base salary

Professional Fees and Medical Texts/Journals:    up to $3,000 per year

CMPA:     Paid in full

CME:          GP 1 - 4    10 paid days and expenses up to $8,500

                   GP 5 - 6    15 paid days and expenses up to $11,000

Maternity Leave:                 17 weeks at 93% of salary

Special Leave:                     0.5 day/month to a maximum of 25 days

Sick Leave:                          1.5 days/month

Statutory Holidays:            12 paid days per year

Group Health Benefits:      Dental & Extended Health Benefits, Life, Accident,

                                                Long-term Disability

 

Relocation Expenses: Paid plus travel for physician and family

Paid vacation Leave:  Five weeks paid vacation (goes to six weeks after 10 years of service) plus locum coverage is provided

Practice coverage during absence: Locums hired by employer at no cost to physician!

 

(Total value of this benefits package is between $80 K and $110 K per year!)
