In Yellowknife specialists are hired by and based out of the Stanton Regional Hospital, now known as the Stanton Territorial Health Authority. Yellowknife specialists include Ob/Gynecology, General Surgery, ENT, Pediatrics, Orthopedic Surgery, Internal medicine, Radiology and Psychiatry.

The Hospital

The Stanton Territorial Health Authority is the main health care facility for about 45,000 residents of the NWT and western Nunavut . More information about the service area can be found at www.stha.ca.

Settlement Visits

The various specialties provide travel clinics to the surrounding communities. Telemedicine also plays a part in ensuring specialist services are available in the outlying communities. Contact the physician recruiter to get in touch with the specialist working in your area and they will give you more information on the practice specific to your specialty.

Visiting Specialties

There are a number of sub specialists who travel from Edmonton to Yellowknife to provide services. These include dermatology, rheumatology, urology and neurology.
